Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. Alongside his part in the drama show telecast worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally acclaimed Danish dramas: Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played the lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television series House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. In the year 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019. He has said that the two brothers first picked up English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches from the comedy show.
